Who we are
We’ve been in the 3D printing game since the early MakerBot days! From assembling our own 3d printers to endlessly tweaking CURA slicer settings and battling first-layer adhesion, we’ve been through it all. We’ve lost prints, sleep, and probably a few brain cells along the way.
But if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that most ideas we try to 3D print already exist in some form. That’s why we created CreateFind—to make discovering 3D models easy, so you can spend less time reinventing the wheel and more time bringing your ideas to life!
Our Mission
CreateFind is on a mission to keep 3D model discovery open, accessible, and independent.
We believe 3D printing thrives on the open-source spirit—where ideas are freely shared, improved, and built upon. But today, most 3D model platforms have become walled gardens, forcing makers to work in silos and locking creativity behind paywalls and restrictions.
By creating a platform-agnostic search experience, we aim to break down barriers, making it easier for makers to find, remix, and innovate—without being tied to any single ecosystem.
This is a free service. We don’t have a business model!
Why CreateFind
We believe makers deserve an independent, unbiased search engine that lets them explore all 3D models across the internet—without the frustration of jumping between platforms.
With our AI-powered contextual search, you can simply describe what you’re looking for, and our smart filters help you narrow it down fast.
CreateFind is built for makers, by makers—solving the challenges of discovery and openness that have been impacted by the growing fragmentation of 3D model platforms.
- One universal search: We aggregate over 7 million 3d models across multiple websites, saving time and effort. Instead of searching multiple sites separately, users can find everything in one place.
-
AI-Powered Discovery: Our AI-context search and advance filters simply the process of locating relevant models.
-
Transparent: As the market shifts towards monetization and exclusivity, CreateFind remains a free and open search tool for all designers and makers.
Why this matters
Pick any 3D model platform today, and chances are it’s owned by a 3D printer manufacturer or software provider.
Don’t take our word for it:
Platform | Owned by |
---|---|
Printables | Prusa Research |
Instructables | Autodesk |
Thangs | Physna |
MakerWorld | Bambu Lab |
Creality Cloud | Creality |
Thingiverse | MakerBot (UltiMaker) |
At first glance, it seems like manufacturers want to create a smartphone-like, cohesive experience by integrating hardware, software, and model libraries. But in reality, these platforms are being built with monetization in mind—through paid models, paywalls, or memberships.
The second-order effect? Fragmentation. Makers are now working across separate platforms, making projects in SILOS, leading to huge discoverability issue. Further, many of the platforms don’t offer the best user experience, may require registering or are slow to search. Some of these platforms are even shifting towards membership-based models, restricting access to content that was once freely available.
We’re trying to solve all these pain points.
As companies increasingly seek to control the hardware-software ecosystem, it is more important than ever to preserve open access to designs and innovation. That’s why we built CreateFind—a platform-agnostic search engine that makes discovering the right 3D model fast, open, and hassle-free.
